Ammonia Combustion – Fundamentals and Some Applications

Biography

Hideaki Kobayashi graduated from Tohoku University in 1981 and received Ph.D. in 1991. He was promoted to Associate Professor at Institute of Fluid Science, Tohoku University in 1992 and Full Professor in 2003. His research focuses on combustion under extreme conditions, including high temperature and high-pressure combustion, turbulent combustion, microgravity combustion, and supersonic combustion. He served as the chair of Japanese Section of The Combustion Institute from 2015-2017 and Vice President of The Combustion Institute from 2016-2020. He was the team leader of ammonia direct combustion for the SIP Energy Carriers Project from 2014-2019. He was awarded the Bernard Lewis Gold Medal of The Combustion Institute in 2022.
